Como ando buscando un 110 td4 y dado que he leido varios post inquietantes, he decidido investigar un poco.

He recopilado todos estos boletines, donde parece que estan recogidos todos los problemas de Td4 indicando sintomas, y acciones correctivas a tomar, asi como acotando el problema a unos numeros de serie concretos y a unos numeros de bastidor concretos. Dan a entender que en las ediciones posteriores a esos numeros de serie, se ha corregido el problema, o que fue un fallo puntual de un rango de numeros de serie.

Content Issue: Heavy audible knocking heard on start up.
Cause: On start up oil pressures can cause the piston cooling jets, (PCJ), to latch into a zero flow condition. Due to hysteresis effect in design the jets do not unlatch until the engine is warm and the oil pressures lower again. During this time with no pressurized oil jet flow to the lower pistons / cylinder bores, overheat and scuff conditions / damage can occur.

Action: Replace the engine assy but ensure only engines post serial # ELD00080707063602 are used.
This condition will not occur on vehicles post assured Vin# 9A767162.
Engines post the info above are fitted with modified PCJ internal springs and this issue is now closed.

07MY onwards - Difficult to start, missfire, lack of power, driveability issues etc.
PCM can have either P1169 and or P0089 logged codes.
Pre assured Vin# Def 90 at Vin LD8A760582. Defender 110/130 at Vin# LD8A760304.

Cause:
Potential contamination in the fuel system.

Action:
Remove the fuel filter, drain complete contents into a suitable clear vessel. Note signs of any water contamination / debris. 1) If more than 40cc of water or debris is evident carry out the following:-
Drain the fuel tank.
Check the fuel tank breather location and reposition as per the illustration A attached.
On pick up variants please reposition the breather pipe in board towards the rear of the fuel tank.
If breather is blocked replace the pipe as per GTR.
Replace the fuel filter and clean out the fuel lines of any contamination / debris and or residue.
For P1169 code replace the FMV (Fuel Metering Valve), as per GTR and LTB00153. Illustration B.
If DTC P0089 is also present replace the PRV (Pressure Relief Valve), as per GTR. Illustration C.
Bleed and prime the fuel system as per GTR.
Start the vehicle and carry out the pump learn process with IDS as per GTR.
Carry out a road test to ensure the issue has been rectified and no codes have been logged.
Submit any findings on ePQR to engineering.

2) If no sign of water or debris but either codes logged carry out the following:-
Check the integrity of the wiring and the condition of the terminal connections between PCM and Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and between PCM and FMV. Repair wiring as necessary and re test the vehicle.
If no issue is found with the wiring / connections, and code P1169 logged, replace the FMV as per GTR and LTB00153.
Replace the fuel rail PRV (Pressure Relief Valve), only If DTC P0089 is present as per GTR.
Start the vehicle and carry out the pump learn process with IDS as per GTR.
Carry out a road test to ensure the issue has been rectified and no codes have been logged.
Submit any findings on ePQR to engineering.

Note:-
A new tank / breather design was introduced on Defender 90 Vin# LD8A760582. and Defender 110/130 at Vin# LD8A760304.
Please submit an ePQR for any issue seen on vehicles post these vins.

Content Issue: Repeat failures on Defender starter motors.
Cause: The ignition switch can jam causing starter motor failure due to over running.
Action: If the starter motor has failed check operation of ignition switch;
a) Is the switch jammed through any of its positions?
b) Does the switch fully return to position 2 once cranked and the inhibit operates, not allowing re-crank from position 2?
c) Does the starter motor continue to engage once cranked and key released?
If the answer to any of the above is YES please change ignition barrel as well as starter motor as potentially the starter motor will fail again.
Vehicles post vin. 775971 have been modified and should not demonstate this concern.

In plant quality inspections have determined that on a number of 2009MY Defender vehicles, the
'A' frame top link arm bushes at the chassis bracket location end of the arm can rotate due to a
potential ovality/oversize of the bore in which the bush is installed.
Customers may experience vibration and a noise likely to be a whine.

Action to be taken
At the next service opportunity you are requested to visually inspect and repair if necessary. The
workshop procedure is attached as Appendix 1.

Please ensure all unsold vehicles are repaired prior to handover to the customer.
A number of vehicles have been reworked at the factory prior to dispatch and can be
identified by a white square sticker in the corner of the windshield; no further action is
required on these vehicles.

Please check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to
undertaking any rework action. DDW will be updated to reflect only those vehicles
affected. Should you require a listing of the affected vehicles, please contact the Land

Non start, poor idle, rough running, P0089-7A and or
P1169-00 logged.
Cause:
Potential water in fuel tank. A small number of service replacement parts have been returned to engineering
for inspection and in each case the breather / vent line has been blocked with water / mud / dirt. A blocked
breather / vent line would cause the fuel tank to vent via the fuel cap. Engineering testing has
highlighted evidence to suggest water is collecting inside the fuel cap, (via the fuel cap lock barrel), and is
then drawn into the fuel tank during the breather / venting process.
Action
This will depend on the severity of the contamination, the quality of the engine running / performance and
whether or not any DTC are logged and what they relate to. Please follow the steps in the attached pdf doc to determine which course of action to take.
NOTE)
Any vehicle presented to the dealership with DTC P0089 and P1169 must have the fuel pump and rail
replaced. DTC other than P0089 and P1169 are not so important in contamination cases and do not necessarily mean that parts should be replaced. Please follow normal diagnosis procedures for other logged DTC. Please submit an ePQR for reference.
New fuel tank with updated breather location introduced for Defender 90 at Vin 760582. Defender
110 /130 at Vin 760304. See attached pdf.

Action:
This will depend on the severity of the contamination, the quality of the engine running I
performance and whether or not any DTG are logged and what they relate to.
Please follow the steps below to determine which course of action to take.
If DTC P0089 and or P1169 are logged at the start of the diagnosis actions 1, 2 and
3 below will require completing.
1) Non start I poor idle I running symptoms and no codes logged. At the fuel filter place a
transparent plastic cup under the drain screw and drain a quantity of the contents into the cup,
allow to settle. Look for the presence of water in the sample?
If water is evident remove the contamination, i.e. clean out the fuel tank and low pressure pipes,
replace the fuel filter and refill the system with clean fuel. Renew the fuel tank breather I vent line
and clear any blockages. Reposition the breather I vent line behind the LH rear inner wheel arch
trim panel to protect from water I mud ingress. On Pick Up variants reposition the pipe in board
towards the rear of the fuel tank. Bleed I prime the fuel system, clear fault codes and start the
engine.
If the engine then runs OK and no DTG are flagged It is likely that no further action is necessary.
2) Should the engine still run pooriy after action 1 above, it is likely that the SGV (Suction Control
Valve) on the high pressure pump is contaminated. If this is the case the only action is to replace
the high pressure pump assembly as the valve cannot be cleaned. It is a high precision
component and is not currently available as a separate part.
(Note, the SCV meters the fuel quantity and regUlates the rail pressure. Contamination to the
SCVcauses the valve to stick and therefore cannot correctly regulate the fuel rail pressure).
3) Should DTG POOa9-?A and or P1169-00 be flagged at the start or after actions 1 and 2, this
means the PLY (pressure limiting valve) on the rail has opened due to excessive rail pressure.
This again will have been caused by a contaminated SGV. In these cases both the pump and the
fuel rail must be repiaced (PLV not available separately). (Note the PLV must be replaced if it has
opened as the internal valve seat will be damaged and the return spring will be weakened).
NOTE)
DTG other than Pooa9 and P1169 are not so important in contamination cases and do not
necessarily mean that parts should be replaced. Please follow normal diagnosis procedures for
other logged DTG
