Hola,

I am hoping someone here can help yet again 🙂 I have the SWB Series III 88" Santana Normal 1983 2.25 diesel.

Are engine parts different from the UK Land Rovers? I think I need fuel injector replacements, as mine are not spraying fuel in a good way.

I was also wondering about Santana accessories... and engines. Is there anyone, or anywhere I can get Santana accessories like the mud flaps, or Santana decals?

Are used engines hard to find in Spain for the Santana? I want a 6 cylinder diesel if possible, and I would need modifications, but it would be a fun challenge 🙂

Thank you for any and all your help.

Ok Santana Canada. I´M going step by step
1º If you try to writte in spanisch, more people can answer your questions
2º try in www.paddockspares.com, or in www.landroverspares.co.uk, both are located in U.K, about your questions in engines parts, they serve for Santanas most parts.
3º In Spain is not dificcult to find used engines. Here in the foro, sometimes particulars are offering used diesel engines from 300€ in advance. The only thing you need is to ask for that in the foro and wait for response. Good luck

The Santana remaining parts stock was sold about 3 years ago to Britpart UK. So if you need a Santana part, you will have to order from a british supplier.

As far as I know, the spanish and english 2,25 engines are the same. A 1983 engine would be a five main bearing one.

Ensafer, a member of this club, has already installed a Santana diesel six cilinder engine in his 88. It needs a great amount of work. You will have to push the radiator and radiator panel forward like a Defender. You will also need a stronger gearbox wich means to relocate the gearbox mounts and get new proposhaft front and rear....

Ensafer now is planing to install a V8 petrol engine instead of the six cilinder.

I would try another engine.

Have a look to your fellow canadian enthusiast

Be careful ith the 200 tdi fitting. You'll need the reinforeced rear half shafts (anyrear axle from a 109 will fit), you'll need o modify the propshaft.
You'll need to beef up your existing gearbox or fit the Series IIa one (non-synchro on 1st and 2nd gear but overall stronger). Bad news is that nearly all them are past their sell-by date and you'll have to rebuild them.

Engine-wise, Santanas and LR are almost twins, the possible only difference is that yours may have a gear and not chain-driven camshaft, but you'l only know this after dropping the timing cover

As for Santana accessories (mud flaps and so on), mudflaps are still being manufactured by a spanish company, cau-tex, who made the OEM ones. Estanfi automocion (www.estanfi.com), Britpart agents for Spain, have them. Alas, they sell only to the trade. Why not call them and ask them for a canada sales rep? maybe they have it or your local Britpart agent can supply them.

Good luck!

The front disk brake kit is a real improvement over the old style drums. Estanfi market it, I do not know at what price, though, but you will notice it almost immediately.

there is another company who sells a more economic kit, callez Zeus conversions.
Take a look here, instructions included:
http://www.yican.com.au/DBrakes/DBrakes.html

Here is their website:
http://www.zeus.uk.com/land-rover.php

Advantages: Cheaper to install (you use your existing hub)
Cons: Maybe specific calipers and pads and disks.

Estanfi kit: More expensive but:
-Straight off-the-shelf calipers, pads and disks.

Some time ago these lads:
www.ticonsole.nl, now
http://www.heystee-automotive.com/
still sell the Ps-10 anibal disk brake kit. Some time ago they sold the iranian-built one, at a good price, but for the time being they sell the OEM one.

Just keep us updated and good luck!

Yes, the doors differs form the british ones. Some Santanas like yours have wind up windows.

But if you want you can change them to original Land Rover Series items or, even, Defender ones. You will need very little modification.

If you still want to repair yours, try Brittpart UK. They probably have the right part for you.

Hola otra vez.

Saludos
