Been a member you could have access to it. But the worshop manuals are in perfect spanish. So it does not worth it.

Anyway, a 1983 Land Rover Santana is almost the same as his english original cousin. In some ways is improved. (In some cases Parabolic springs, disk breakes, power steering )

Hago quiere tanto obtener la materia de Santana, principalmente porque hay algunas diferencias secundarias... Busco también algunas partes sobrante de sanatana. Mi toma de aire fresca original fue desconectada y carezco uno de las palancas, y no seguro cómo conecta a la solapa pequeña en la capucha.

Hay un muy, muy, el número limitados de Santana aquí en norteamérica, y serían fresco compartir la riqueza del conocimiento con los otros dueños:)

Very nice beast. what I don't know is how on earth it got an age-related number plate from the UK!

You have one of the very rare Santana Serie IIIa, called the 88 regular or "88 normal" in plain spanish.
Built between 1983-87, diesel engine 2 1/4 diesel, guess chain-driven camshaft (only the turbo diesel ones got belt driven camshaft) . 5 main bearing engine.
Transmission it's the same as the old faithful Series Land Rovers except for:
-Gearbox casing. Latter 4-speed gearboxes were vertically-split, with a square reinforcing pattern moulded into the casing. I guess internals were compatible.

-Front axle: You've got disk brakes
-Heating, ventilation, front dash, wipers and windshield. Specific to Santana.
Parts for dash are virtually non existent, but the firewall can be saved by cutting and rimming the Series standard to IIIa dimensions.
Doors, especially the rear one, are unique items, too, but Defender and Series side doors can be fitted, too. For a rear one you would have to trim a Series door or swap roof (nor recommended as that GRP roof works wonders when cold).

Door hinges: They are not cast but stamped, and really week. Oil them regularly.
Be careful with the windscreen as they've got a corrosion time bomb built-in. Get it heavily rustproofed inside with Dinitrol, Waxoyl, or whatever you have available. Same for the firewall/front bulkhead.

Some Santana chassis left the factory already galvanized (mine is). If that's not the case, apply the same treatment as above.

-All Santana material, lock stock and barrel was moved to the UK. A joint venture between britpart (www.britpart.co.uk) and Estanfi (www.estanfi.com) the latter the traditional santana spares agent in Spain with rights of manufacture for Santana parts, bought it, and due to lack of space, was stored in Britpart's premises.

I have some manuals but they are for the latter 2,5 engined Santanas, photocopied from my dealer and not in a very good quality.
write to estanfi to see if they have an appointed dealer in Canada. They have really good parts books (my local auto parts shop photocopied it for me).

Si puede esperar un poco, estoy armando la pagina en los pocos ratos libres que tengo, y estara todo visible y espero que muy bien.

En principio es casi exclusiva de Ligero, digo casi por que salvo carroceria lo demá´s´es igual al resto de Santanas.

RFollia, I see what you mean about the windscreen being a time bomb. I have a friend who is eventually going to cut and weld a new lower section due to some rust already happening.

The license plate from the UK is from the original owner, as it stands I believe that I am the third owner of this beautiful vehicle. Thank you for the information 🙂

I'm just getting info in order to upload downloadable brochures, workshop manuals, parts catalogues and any other valuable technical info for our Santanas.

If you need it urgently from Canada I will upload it at once in order you are able to download all the pdfs automatically

If you can wait a little bit just better as I am building my web page in my free time and everything will be displayed all right.

My web is lightweight landrover-only, but, apart from the bodywork, the rest is equal to other Santanas.

I would not do the 200 Tdi conversion. The late Series III and early IV 4-sp gearboxes were notoriously weak, even couldn't handle the power of the 2,5 N/A diesel, breaking nearly everything on 109s, and some dealers had to modify engines to give less power to be on the safe side.
If you wish to upgrade your engine's power, beef the gearbox up or fit a non-syncromesh S IIa gearbox.
